Project Description:
Parking Lot Survey, Geotechnical investigation & Investigative Report, Cost Estimate There are a total of 12 parking lots located throughout the Rockville campus. The parking lots were constructed at various times during the history of the college that first opened in 1965. High-Pole Lighting for many of the parking lots was installed after the pavements were in-place. This work required that trenches for the wiring be excavated through the existing pavements. There is evidence that many of the pavements were resurfaced with an overlay after this work was performed. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the condition of the existing pavements and provide recommendations for rehabilitation. The scope of the investigation included the following: – A field survey was performed to visually evaluate the condition of the pavements. – A total of 14 boring tests were drilled to determine the thickness of the existing pavement sections and evaluate the subgrade soils. – The condition and requirements for the pavements were evaluated to determine the most cost-effective methods for rehabilitation
